'And The Battle Royale Ends'

~AdventNet takes home the SMOT Cricket Mania 2008 trophy~ 

Chennai, December 8^th, 2008: The Anna University Grounds transformed into an intense battle ground last weekend and every corporate fought tooth and nail to lift the SMOT Cricket Mania 2008 trophy. In order to separate the men from the boys Saturday saw the corporate teams battling it out in a fast track knockout format. 8 teams consisting of AdventNet, Citi Technologies, Coromandel InfoTech India ltd, Firstsource, Intimate Fashions, Oracle Financial Services (iFlex), Volex Interconnect and Covansys qualified to the Quarter Finals.  

 

Sunday the real battle began, the quarter finals and the semi finals set the stage for the final battle. The first of the two semi finals saw a display of attacking play by AdventNet and Coromandel with scores of 40 in 10 overs being overhauled within 8 overs by AdventNet. The second semi final was a close fought one with Citi Technologies scoring 54 in its allotted 10 overs and Covansys reaching the target in the final over. The Finals saw a Covansys setting a stiff target of 70 in its alloted12 overs and AdventNet displaying tremendous confidence in galloping to the target score for the loss of just 2 wickets in 10.2 overs. AdventNet had won the coveted SMOT Cricket Mania 2008 Trophy and prize money of Rs 1 lakh by being the most consistent performer. A consolation to Covansys though was that The Fitment of the series (Man of the Series) was awarded to Mr. Venkatachalam of Covansys.  

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Narasimhan, Director, SMOT, said "SMOT Cricket Mania wanted to be the outlet to the working community who also have a passion for cricket. The response was overwhelming and the energy on the ground was equally infectious. SMOT Cricket Mania will definitely see another edition very soon."    

While cricket was keeping everyone enthralled with its action on the field, the crowds were at their boisterous best with all the cheering and support. The trophy for the best cheering team was won by Citi Technologies while Coromandel InfoTech India ltd bagged the trophy for the best cheering slogan.

AdventNet won SMOT Cricket Mania 2008 by 8 wickets.

Citi 54 for 5 in 10 overs

Covansys 55 for 5 in 9.1 overs 

Covansys won by 5 wikets in 9.1 overs.

Firtssource vs Coromandel 

Coromandel 55 for 6 in 8 overs

Firstsource 55 for 5 in 8 overs 

Coromandel won the match through bowl out.'

AdventNet 40 for 9 in 8 overs

Volex 35 for 8 in 8 overs.

Citi all out for 41 in 7 overs

Intimate 27 all out in 7.5 overs.
