Please find attached the Report on the Analysis of Criminal and Financial details of 77 re-contesting MLAs in the Punjab 2012 Assembly elections.
Punjab Election Watch (PEW) and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analyzed the criminal and asset details of 77 MLAs who are re-contesting the 2012 Assembly Elections and compared the them with available affidavits of 2007 Assembly elections. The attached report details the criminal cases pending against them and analyses the asset increase within 5 years from 2007 to 2012. (Highlights below)

Highlights of the report are:
- Punjab Election Watch (PEW) has analyzed affidavits of 77 re-contesting MLAs.
- 18 MLAs out of these 77 re-contesting MLAs have criminal cases pending against them
- 5 re-contesting MLAs out of these 77 have serious criminal cases like murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery etc. pending against them.
- The average assets of these MLAs as declared in 2007 is Rs 4,60,37,351 (4.6 crores)
- The average assets of these MLAs as declared in 2012 is Rs 10,73,33,640 (10.7 crores)
- Average asset growth for these re-contesting MLAs is Rs 6,12,96,289 (6.1 crores)
- Average percentage growth in assets for these MLAs is 133%
