| Bangalore, 20th January, 2012: Titan Industries, represented by Sandeep Kulahalli, & Hari Achanta, beat stiff competition from more than 50 other teams to emerge victorious today at Eagleton Resort, on the first day of the Bangalore qualifying round of the Take Solutions World Corporate Golf Challenge - India. An avid golfer with a handicap of 9, Achanta scored 34 points and was ably supported by team-leader Sandeep Kulahalli who scored 32 points, playing off a 12 handicap. Ending the day with a total of 66 points, they narrowly edged out S.Nagaraj (27 points, handicap 20) and Dr.Hrishikesh (38 points off handicap 21) of Artimed Pharma, who had a combined score of 65 points. The top two teams from today will advance to the national qualifiers to be held on 10th and 11th April, 2012 at Bangkok's Lebua Hotels and Resorts. The winning team from the national finals will get a chance to represent India at the World Finals of the prestigious World Corporate Golf Challenge to be held at the much-celebrated Cape Garden Route, South Africa. The best individual gross score was won by Krathish Bopanna who scored an incredible 47 points playing off an 18 handicap as he returned a brilliant score of gross 75 on the tough Eagleton course, playing off the championship markers. Nitin Jajoo scored 38 points, playing off a 7 handicap to claim best net individual prize. The Longest Drive was won by Hitesh Joshi with a shot of 295 yards, while AN Manjunath won the Closest to Pin with a shot to 5 feet on the 175 yard 5th hole. The crème de la crème of Bangalore's corporate world bonded over great golf at Eagleton Golf Resort where the southern regional qualifiers for the Take Solutions World Corporate Golf Challenge was held. Team Titan and Team Atrimed Pharma secured the top two positions on Day 1 to earn a spot in the national qualifiers. With two more spots in the national qualifiers up for grabs on day 2, the competition is expected to heat up. There was great competition on the course as over a hundred golfers from top companies including TAKE Solutions, Indian Terrain, Shriram Properties, Shriram Ventures, Ballantine's, Emirates, Tourism Thailand, IBM, Accenture, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Credit Suisse, Capgemini Consulting; Bangalore's own Infosys, Wipro, Kingfisher Airlines vied for a spot in the National Qualifiers to be held at Lebua Hotels and Resorts, Thailand. In the past, corporate teams such as Air India, Deutsche Bank, GAIL, Parle Foods, Genpact, Mercedes Benz amongst many others have represented India at the World Corporate Golf Challenge. The second day of the regional qualifiers will be played tomorrow at the Eagleton Golf Resort and will see more than 100 corporate golfers tee-off for a berth in the national qualifiers. With more top honchos from Bangalore's corporate world set to tee off, Eagleton will see another round of great golf and corporate bonding. Team India has maintained a great record in the World Corporate Golf Challenge since their debut appearance in 1999. Team Close Up, HUL from Mumbai, which represented India last year, displayed excellent golfing skills to finish 2nd at the World Finals. In 2010, the Indian Team was tied 1st at the World Finals, but lost out on the title on count back. In 2008, the Indian Team from Credit Suisse became the first and only Indian team to emerge victorious at the World Finals held at the famed La Manga Club in Spain.
